The Little Farm began in early 2020, just as the COVID-19 pandemic started to impact the world. With international flights to the island suddenly restricted, we quietly opened our gates in the midst of global uncertainty. Our dream was to build a welcoming space where people—especially children—could connect with animals, nature, and simple, joyful experiences.
Just a few months later, in September 2020, a devastating hurricane struck the island. The damage to the farm was immense. We lost fencing, animal shelters, food supplies, our newly completed treehouse, and sadly, some of our animals. We were forced to close the farm for 6 to 8 months to clean up and rebuild nearly everything from scratch.
Even after recovering from the storm, we’ve continued to face challenges. One of the most difficult has been the threat of stray dogs entering the farm and harming our animals. These heartbreaking losses have pushed us to continually improve our fencing and safety measures to protect the animals in our care.
Despite everything, The Little Farm has not only survived but grown into something truly meaningful. We now work with local schools to teach children about the importance of caring for animals and treating all living things with kindness. Through hands-on learning, we help nurture empathy, responsibility, and respect in the next generation.
Our Journey

One of our biggest sources of support has been the visitors to our island—especially tourists.Their interest, generosity, and willingness to experience life on the farm have helped sustain us through difficult times. Every visit helps feed our animals, maintain the property, support our educational programs, and ensure we can keep the farm open and thriving. We are incredibly grateful for the role tourists play in helping us do what we love every day.
Our journey has been one of resilience, hard work, and heart. From a quiet opening during a global crisis to rebuilding after disaster, The Little Farm has become a place of connection, healing, and learning. We’re proud of how far we’ve come—and excited for what lies ahead.

Our Story
Hello and welcome!
We’re Ioannis and Chloe — the heart behind this little adventure.
Yianni was born and raised here on the beautiful island of Zakynthos. From a young age, he was out in the fields with his family, picking olives and learning the rhythms of the land. The island’s traditions and natural beauty have always been a part of him.
Chloe grew up on the other side of the world, in New Zealand. After studying early childhood education, she set off to explore — and that journey led her right here, to Zakynthos. In 2008, fate brought us together when we met while working at Akropolis restaurant. One summer turned into a lifetime.
In 2013, we were blessed with our daughter Ava. She’s grown up alongside this dream — climbing trees, feeding animals, and always finding joy in the little things. With a huge love for animals and a gentle heart, she’s very much a part of everything we do.
Since then, we’ve been building a life rooted in simplicity, nature, and community. This little venture is our way of sharing what we love most — the land, the people, the animals and the slower pace of island life.
We’re so glad you’re here.
Our Mission
